Materiales de tuberías de refrigerante

La mayor parte de las tuberías que se utilizan en los sistemas de refrigeración y aire acondicionado se fabrica de cobre; sin embargo se utiliza también aluminio para la fabricación de circuitos de evaporador y condensador. El aluminio no se ha hecho popular en la instalación de tuberías de conexión para el refrigerante, debido a que no puede ser trabajado con facilidad como el cobre y su soldadura es más difícil. La tubería de acero se utiliza en algunas unidades más grandes ensambladas en fábrica, así como en el armado de grandes sistemas de refrigeración. El termino tubería generalmente se aplica a materiales de pared delgada, típicamente de cobre, que se unen entre si por procedimientos distintos a roscados en la pared del tubo. Tubo es el término aplicado a materiales de pared gruesa (hierro y acero) en los cuales se suele aterrajar y que se unen mediante acoplamientos atornillados sobre el tubo.
